One Wet Week

It rained almost every day last week. Hard. Charleston, particularly downtown floods. A lot. We deal with it pretty well, but be aware if any water gets in your car, it’ll stink to high heaven in a day or two. As far as I can tell, that’s the only real disadvantage of living downtown. So we cope.
Tuesday, I had a couple who are getting married next year (Ben and Bethany) meet me to do their engagement portraits at the beach. The clouds were rolling in, but we were hoping to get some shots done before the rain came. Thankfully, Ben and Bethany are very relaxed people, so they weren’t too worried about getting wet. We got a lot of shots done very quickly…before the rain came. Once the rain started, it wasn’t too bad. The real problem was the blowing sand. It made it hard to stand and got everywhere. Ben and Bethany were troopers and we were able to get some really great shots with the incredible sky that normally accompanies such storms.
Thursday was another rainy day. Thankfully, this was a simple head shot series for a doctor’s office. I do these for corporate clients fairly frequently and I usually encounter “models” who are not exactly thrilled to have their pictures taken. Thankfully, the ladies at Family First Chiropractic were terrific. They were all ready for me, had their smiles ready and were very easy going and easy to direct. I love working with clients like these!
Friday, it rained! Surprise! I was meeting with Kelli and her mom to shoot Kelli’s bridal portrait. We were hoping to get to the park for this shoot. Unfortunately, even though the rain had subsided somewhat, it was still drizzling and the ground was soaked…where it wasn’t flooded of course. We switched gears and were able to do a beautiful portrait session at my home studio. You never know how a person will look in pictures until you photograph them…and Kelli photographs beautifully! She has amazing cheekbones and a lovely jaw line. I can’t wait to shoot her wedding this weekend. To keep anyone from seeing her in her dress before this weekend, I am not going to post any pictures until after this Saturday. Expect a new post then!
